Installation of Small Scale Greywater Treatment Plants in Atuf-Tubas Governorate

Atuf is located in southeast of Tubas with a population of 227 habitants (2016, PCBS). It is considered one of the poorest and most marginalized Palestinian communities; it is used from time to time by the Israeli army for military exercises. 

Funded by OSPREY Foundation, PWEG has successfully contributed to the agricultural development and food security of Atuf; by constructing 3 greywater treatment plants for 35 beneficiaries.

A technical evaluation was conducted with the support of Al-Najah University, the removal efficiency of COD and BOD is 97% and 95% respectively. As Atuf lacks infrastructure; PWEG has contributed to protect its environment and agricultural lands from pollution and contributed to health protection of Atuf villagers. Moreover, it has improved their food security and income as agriculture is Atuf’s main income source.
